"Spay Day USA," the annual campaign to save the lives of millions of cats and dogs, takes place around the last day in February. This is a national campaign, sponsored by the Doris Day Animal Foundation. During Spay Day USA 2003, an estimated 225,000 companion and feral animals (including at least 92 rabbits, 20 ferrets, and 5 horses!) were spayed or neutered nationwide. This brings Spay Day USA's nine-year total to more than one million animals! These spay and neuter surgeries have already prevented literally millions of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born.
