<Daphne> I HAVE USED 8? X 8? SHEETS OF PAPER AND FABRIC FOR THESE ROOMS, FINISHED
<Daphne> SIZE OF 4 X 4.
<Daphne> I USED EITHER FUSIBLE WEB SUCH AS WONDER UNDER OR HEAT ?N BOND.
<Daphne> BASIC ROOM INSTRUCTIONS ? YOU COULD PRACTISE WITH PLAIN COPY PAPER.
<Daphne> YOU NEED 4 SQUARE SHEETS OF PAPER. A 6X6 PIECE OF PAPER WILL YIELD A ROOM SIZE OF 3X3.
<Daphne> FOLD SHEET IN HALF. OPEN, THEN FOLD THE OTHER WAY IN HALF, THAT IS, VERTICALLY THEN HORIZONTALLY.
<Daphne> CUT ALONG ONE OF THE FOLDS, JUST TO THE CENTER.
<Daphne> MAKE A DIAGONAL FOLD RIGHT OPPOSITE THAT CENTER CUT AS SHOWN IN PHOTO.

<Daphne> BRING THE TWO CUT SIDES TOGETHER TO FORM A ROOM, AND GLUE THOSE TWO SIDES TOGETHER.
<Daphne> MAKE FOUR LIKE THIS. GLUE THREE ROOM SIDES TOGETHER, LEAVING THE FOURTH OPEN SO THAT YOU MAY FOLD THE BOOK UP FLAT, BENDING AT THE DIAGONAL FOLDS IN THE ?FLOORS?.
<Daphne> YOUR ROOMS ARE READY TO BE DECORATED!
<rosab> did you use more than one 8 x 8?
<Daphne> YOU NEED 4 FOR THE FOUR ROOMS
<mocha> are the diagonal folds on the outer corner of each square?
<Daphne> ONE PAGE PER ROOM
<Daphne> PLAY WITH IT, IT WORKS OUT GOOD..JUST FOLD ONE SQUARE ON A DIAGONAL
<BlackCats> this is the kind of project you want to play with first with scrap paper
<Daphne> I DECORATE THE PAGES FIRST THEN GLUE TWO WALLS TOGETHER TO MAKE THE STAND-UP ROOM. THEN I EMBELLISH FURTHER
<BlackCats> once you actually start working with the paper you'll have an "ah hah" moment when everything will fall into place
<Daphne> I MADE MY FIRST ONE WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS...JUST SAW A PIC IN A MAGAZINE
<Daphne> SO IT IS EASY!
<Daphne> FOLD 2 WAYS, UNFOLD, CUT ONE FOLD TO CENTRE,

<Daphne> THE BEDROOM
<Daphne> STAMP ?ESSENTIAL GLUE PAD? BY TSUKINEKO ALL OVER CARDSTOCK. PLACE THE LACE OVER AND BURNISH. TAKE A SOFT BRUSH AND COVER OPEN AREAS WITH MICA POWDERS OR CHALKS. THE GLUE PAD NEEDS NO HEAT TO ACTIVATE
FABULOUS! I USE THIS QUITE A LOT ? REALLY LOVE IT. (KENDRA HAS IT-NEW!)
<Daphne> SUPPLIES?ACCESSORIES AND APPLICATORS?GLUE, ETC
<BlackCats> ooooh, I've been wondering about that glue pad
<BlackCats> good to hear a review of it
<Daphne> A MUST HAVE
<Daphne> STAMP ?LEGS? ON MUSIC BACKGROUND PAPER, AND EMBOSS WITH SILVER EP. GLUE SOME BLACK AND WHITE LACE EDGING TO PAPER - ATTACH TO WALL
<Daphne> QUESTIONS?
<cak> not so far, just some ideas to use this technique with!
<Jambalaya> after you put all the embellishments, it still folds?
<Daphne> IT SURE DOES , JAM
<Wanda> so that glue pad holds the lace on the paper... it doesn't start to come off?
<Daphne> NOT YET..LOL
<Wanda> wow
<BlackCats> good to know

<Daphne> THE GARDEN
<Daphne> GLUE GRASS PRINT FABRIC TO CARDSTOCK USING FUSIBLE WEB. STAMP MUSHROOM STAMP AND PINE TREES REPEATEDLY ON GAUZE FABRIC WITH STAZ-ON INK. ATTACH TO WALLS AS SHOWN USING PODGE TYPE GLUE OR SOFT GEL MEDIUM. GLUE DOWN A MAGAZINE IMAGE OF A WELCOME PLAQUE.

<Daphne> I JUST LOVE THAT PINE TREE STAMP
<BlackCats> is the base cardstock regular cardstock or a heavier weight cardstock?
<Daphne> I USE IT A LOT IN MY CARDS
<Daphne> JUST REGULAR CARDSTOCK BC
<Wanda> you need to be careful how you glue it on because the bottom needs to fold up in between the walls, right??
<Daphne> RIGHT WANDA
<Daphne> BUT REAL EASY TO SEE
<BlackCats> was wondering about the need to accomodate the fusible web and fabric weights
<Daphne> EACH FLOOR HAS THE FOLD
<Daphne> YES, MONICA, BUT IT DOESN'T GET HEAVY
<Daphne> IT WORKS GOOD
<Daphne> I USE A BONE FOLDER TO MAKE THE CREASES AFTER
<Daphne> I MADE ANOTHER PAGE WITH MACTAC AS THE BACKING, BUT IT WAS TOO FLOPPY!
<BlackCats> mactac?
<Daphne> SHELVING WITH STICKY BACK

<Daphne> THE LIBRARY
<Daphne> USE TEXT-LIKE PAPER FOR ROOM. STAMP EYES ON YELLOW FABRIC. USE LETTER RUBONS ?READ? ON GAUZE RIBBON AND GLUE TO FABRIC, THEN GLUE TO ?WALL?. CUT OUT PHOTO OF OLD BOOK AND GLUE TO ?FLOOR?. STAMP EYES ON AIR-DRY CLAY. WHEN DRY, PAINT WITH GOLD H2O?S. THEN USE METALLIC RUB-ONS TO GET THE DARK FINISH. GLUE TO WALL WITH DIMENSIONAL DOTS
.

<Daphne> ASIAN ROOM
<Daphne> FUSE ASIAN FAN FABRIC TO CARDSTOCK.
<Daphne> HAPPINESS CARD: USE HAPPINESS SYMBOL BRASS STENCIL WITH BLACK CARDSTOCK AND STENCIL PASTE COLORED WITH MICA POWDERS. ATTACH WITH EYELETS
<BlackCats> neat idea to use the eyes with "read" and the book
<Daphne> STAMP ASIAN LADY ON BLACK CARDSTOCK. EMBOSS WITH KALEIDOSCOPE GLITTER EP. LAYER ON BROWN CARDSTOCK THEN LAYER ON A PIECE OF GAUZE FABRIC WITH FRAYED EDGES. GLUE TO ?WALL?.

<BlackCats> that's such a neat lil asian lady stamp
<cak> I'm fascinated by your use of gauze--wonderful
<Daphne> GAUZE TAKES STAMPS VERY NICELY

<Daphne> NOW FOR THE COVERS
<BlackCats> I'm definitely gonna have to try stamping on fabric
<Daphne> AND KENDRA HAS THE FABRICO
<Daphne> I PAINTED THE FRONT COVER WITH BRONZE ACRYLIC, THEN PRINTED A DESIGN FROM MY COMPUTER ONTO A TRANSPARENCY, EMBOSSED SILVER EP ON IT ? TURNED IT OVER AND STAMPED ASIAN LADY WITH STAZ-ON INK. FLIPPED IT BACK OVER AND GLUED DOWN WITH DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
<Daphne> CAN YOU MAKE HER OUT IN THE PHOTO?

<Daphne> FOR THE BACK COVER, I PAINTED A PIECE OF TEXTURED WALLPAPER WITH ACRYLIC PAINT ? CHAMPAGNE, AND GLUED IT DOWN WITH DBL-SIDED TAPE.
<Daphne> TIE THE BOOK CLOSED WITH RIBBON, TRIMS, OR FIBRES
OR MAKE A CLOSURE OF YOUR CHOICE.

<Daphne> SEE WANDA, IT IS NOT TOO BULKY
<BlackCats> now when you say covers, is that a seperate piece of paper added or the outsides of the "book" itself?
<Daphne> YOU CAN USE THIS BOOK TO SHOWCASE PHOTOS AS IN A SCRAPBOOK SPREAD
<BlackCats> would make a cool christmas card with pictures in some of the rooms
<rosab> are the covers chipboard?
<Daphne> I WORKED RIGHT ON THE EXISTING PAGES
<Wanda> so you glue all 4 together before you start attaching the fabrics, etc?
<rosab> the "floor" is the folding part?
<Daphne> I DECORATE THE PAGES FIRST THEN GLUE TWO WALLS TOGETHER TO MAKE THE STAND-UP ROOM. THEN I EMBELLISH FURTHER.
<Daphne> YES ROSA
<Daphne> AFTER YOU MAKE ONE PAGE YOU WILL SEE HOW EASY IT IS, AND IDEAS WILL FOLLOW
<daffy> it would be fun to make one with each of the rooms repersenting a season, Spring, summer, winter , fall maybe even add a favorite of your kids durning that time of year
