Watercolor Card

Made by Monica Black aka BlackCats as a class project for the Summer 2006 Cyberstampers Convention.
Stamps used: Pixie Expressions set - Romance
Supplies used: Glossy cardstock, Lyra Aquacolor crayons, medium waterbrush, Krylon Gold Leafing pen, glue stick, dimensional dots, Graphite Black Brilliance inkpad.

STEP 1

<BC-away> USING LYRA AQUACOLOR CRAYONS, SCRIBBLE A JAGGED ROW OF BLUE VIOLET #37 OVER ONE END OF GLOSSY CARDSTOCK CUT TO FIT FRONT OF CARD. USING A MEDIUM WATERBRUSH DAB ALL OVER THIS ROW.

<BC-away> REPEAT WITH ROWS OF TRUE BLUE #48, AQUAMARINE #54 AND MAGENTA #37, WETTING EACH COLOR AS YOU WORK. USE HEAT GUN TO SET PUDDLES AS YOU WORK SO THAT THEY DO NOT RUN TOO MUCH. BLEND EDGES BETWEEN COLORS WITH WATERBRUSH
.

<BC-away> MAKE ANOTHER PIECE OF GLOSSY PAPER IN THIS SAME MANNER. DRY WITH HEAT GUN. THEN SPRITZ WITH WATER SO THAT THE PAPER BOWS UP AND THE COLORS RUN TO GET A MORE PASTEL VERSION.

<cak> boy, the dabbing really makes a big difference--I love the pebbly look you get

<BC-away> USE YOUR BRUSH TO DRAG OFF THE EXCESS WATER AT THE EDGES OF THE CARD WHEN IT BOWS UP AND THE PAINTS RUN

<BC-away> USE CORNER ROUNDER ON FIRST PAPER THAT HAS BEEN TRIMMED TO FIT A STANDARD CARD. SELECT AN AREA OF THE PASTEL PAPER AND CUT OUT A RECTANGLE. CUT TWO OPPOSING CORNERS OFF AS SHOWN.

<BC-away> SOMETIMES CUTTING CORNERS OFF AT ODD ANGLES REALLY ADDS THAT LIL SPARK TO A PIECE
<BC-away> THE UNEXPECTED

<BC-away> STAMP SAYING, PIXIE EXPRESSIONS ROMANCE SET, ON PASTEL LAYER WITH BRILLIANCE GRAPHITE BLACK INK. EDGE BOTH LAYERS WITH KRYLON GOLD PEN.

<BC-away> ATTACH BASE LAYER TO CARD USING UHU GLUE STICK. PLACE SCRAP PAPER OVER CARD AND BURNISH WELL TO ACTIVATE THE GLUE FOR GOOD CONTACT. ATTACH SAYING LAYER WITH POP-DOTS.

<BC-away> VERY EASY, QUICK CARD
<BC-away> AND LOTS OF FUN PLAYING
<boomersmom-15> Would make a neat pin for trading, I think.
